I am a leaf
Green leaf
at the end of a branch
Shining in the sun
Flutters in the breeze
Collects the rain
Gives shade
Autumn comes
Green is lost
The leaf falls
to the ground
forgotten
To be replaced by other leaves

Spring
New leaves flutter in the breeze
The sun peaks through the clouds
Blossoms on trees begin to show
Grass is green again
~Mark
The Lonely Road
The empty desert
Barren as my soul
Dust hangs in the air
The lonely road

From my window
The jagged rocks
all clad in white
gleam in brilliant sunlight
The mountains out my window
speak to me in silence
castles of grey in the snow
~ Mark
Melt
The snow melts
drip, drip, drip
the water falls
onto the concrete
splashes
illuminated by the sun
break the winter silence

One Summer
a look
a glance
a nod
a dance
shy
nervous
timid
anxious
hands sweaty
gulping
eyes gaze
embrace
dancing
swaying
talking
lingering looks
long conversations
walking
phone calls
notes
sitting on grass
laughing
hugs
kiss
kiss
hearts flutter
new love
more notes
movies
longer walks
longer talks
many thoughts
sharing cassettes
evenings under moonlight
best friends
inseparable
holding hands
joy
content
happy
Summer ends
one last walk
one last talk
promise to write
downcast
saddened
one last kiss
long embrace
lingering
Sad good bye
tears
feigned stoicism
final wave
driving away
reread notes
longing
regret
remember
photos
a look
a glance
~ Mark
Solitary
a stone alone
water all around
a lone tree
surrounded by grass
the birds fly past
and pay no heed
And so am I
at last
~ Mark
